Privacy Policy
This notice explains what personal data Tail & Kin collects through this website, why, and what rights you have over it. Tail & Kin is a UK pet brand; this site does not sell products directly — where a product can be bought, this site links out to Amazon, whose own privacy notice covers that purchase.
Who we are
The data controller for this website is Tail & Kin Ltd, company number 17330793, registered office The Wheelhouse Angel Court, 81 St Clements Street, Oxford, England, OX4 1AW. You can contact us about privacy matters at hello@tailandkin.co.uk.
What we collect
We collect only what each feature of the site needs to work:
- Newsletter sign-up — your email address, and the page or form you signed up from (for example “homepage”), so we know which sign-up prompt it came from.
- Contact form — your name, email address, the topic you selected and the message you send us, so we can reply.
- Analytics — only if you actively opt in through the cookie banner. See our Cookies Policy for what that involves.
We do not buy or combine this data with information from anywhere else, and we do not sell it to third parties.
Why we process it, and our lawful basis
- Newsletter emails — your consent, given when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time (see “How to unsubscribe” below).
- Replying to a contact form message — our legitimate interest in answering questions sent to us, and, where the message concerns a specific enquiry you have raised, taking the steps needed to deal with it.
- Analytics — your consent, given through the cookie banner. Nothing is measured before you opt in.
How long we keep it
Newsletter addresses are kept for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe we do not delete your address: we keep it, marked as unsubscribed, on a suppression list, so that we can be certain not to email you again — including if the same address is later added to our list from somewhere else. It is never included in an export used to send marketing email.
Contact form messages are kept for as long as reasonably needed to deal with the enquiry and for a period afterwards in case of follow-up. We aim to review and clear old messages at least once a year; that is a commitment about how we intend to work, not an automatic deletion schedule.
Analytics data is retained only for as long as Google Analytics' own retention settings allow, and is anonymised at the IP level.
If you would rather we erased your address or a message entirely, rather than keeping it as described above, email hello@tailandkin.co.uk and we will do so — see “Your rights” below.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us: what personal data we hold about you; to correct it if it is inaccurate; to delete it; to restrict or object to how we use it; and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email hello@tailandkin.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). We would welcome the chance to address your concern first, but you are not required to contact us before contacting the ICO.
How to unsubscribe
Every marketing email from Tail & Kin includes an unsubscribe link. Following it brings you to a page asking you to confirm — nothing changes until you do, so a mail client that checks links on your behalf cannot unsubscribe you by accident. Once you confirm, we stop emailing you immediately. As described under “How long we keep it”, your address then stays on our suppression list, so simply entering it into the sign-up form again will not resume the emails — that is a deliberate safeguard, so that nobody else can put your address back on the list without your knowledge. If you change your mind, email us at hello@tailandkin.co.uk and we will add you back.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time, for example if the site gains a new feature that collects data. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
